The Real Lesson of the SOPA Blackout: The Internet Should Flex Its Muscles More Often

Everyone has been talking about SOPA. But people have also been talking about the amazing online activism that took place. Maybe the real lesson here is that the Internet needs to get involved and stand up for more. Just imagine the possibilities…

This event was awesome to watch, my mom even signed an online petition. It’s impressive to see just how much weight online powers have.

Take A Picture, Pass It On: The Disposable Memory Project

“It’s a simple concept: Drop a camera somewhere with basic instructions and see where the wind takes it. If things go right, a person takes a photo and passes it on. And at the end, the camera makes its way back to the address written on the exterior and everyone is happy…”

The Early November have announced that they have signed to Rise Records. The band will be recording their new album at Ace Enders’s Living Room Studio in New Jersey. The band is hoping for a spring 2012 release. You can check out the band’s remaining 2011 tour dates below by clicking “Read More”.

I can’t wait for this. Their last record was seriously underrated and Ace Enders has been on fire as of late. Also Rise Records is doing a great job of not being a shit label with a shit roster anymore.

It's Time for a Change

I was sitting waiting for class reading news articles on my iPhone when I came across this story. And frankly I’m disgusted. This may have completely ruined my day. And I may be biased because I’m a huge supporter of gay rights and freedom of expression in general. The fact that you can outright murder someone and only get 21 years is appalling even if this kid was 14. This wasn’t a beating gone wrong (not that I’m condoning that) but this kid shot this poor teen in the back of the head for being who he was. Even if there were unwanted sexual advances, which from this article I doubt the extent of, that’s something you tell a school counselor about. This raises a lot of questions about schooling. Homosexuality is no longer something schools can just turn a cold shoulder too. More and more teens are coming out in high school and middle school, and they have every right too. School’s have to teach not just tolerance but acceptance.
Also on a side note this is just another example of why hand guns need to be banned in the United States. This is a travesty and just because Larry King was a homosexual teen I feel his case was taken far too lightly.
